Parrot adoptions, care education, and rehabilitation
Frankie was then moved to a shelter, but Frankie was deemed unsuitable for adoption, and thus moved to Parrots First.
Frankie is now at Parrots First where she will get the excellent care and attention she needs and deserves, while she waits for permanent placement in a sanctuary.

Frankie was confiscated with one other parrot from an animal hoarding situation.
About Frankie

Frankie is an Eleanora cockatoo that came to Parrots First from a confiscation. The person was keeping snakes, lizards, and alligators. Frankie was one of 2 birds that were seized, and Parrots First was asked to take them in as they were not good candidates for the city shelter to adopt out. Frankie is missing all but one of his toes but gets around surprisingly well.

Why Sponsor Frankie?

Being fearful of humans, especially of hands, it was decided that Frankie is unsuitable for adoption, and a cockatoo sanctuary with colonies of sulfur crested cockatoos would be best for Frankie. However, when California was placed under quarantine for Newcastle Disease, the sanctuary decided not to take in any new parrots, so Frankie will be staying with Parrots First.

Frankie is doing well but still does not want to be touched or handled. Frankie is very smart and has learned to station (stay put) in his cage to allow for feeding and cleaning. We are still hoping to get him to the sanctuary when they again accept new cockatoos, but it may be 18 months until the sanctuary starts accepting birds again, so we need financial support to care for Frankie in the meantime. Frankie also needs special perches since he has only one toe, and an aviary for more freedom of movement.

Frankie’s Favorite Things

Frankie loves corn and sugar snap peas, and we encourage donations of medium-sized, hanging wood toys if sponsorship isn’t an option.
